For Kara

My friend Kara recently got engaged. I was itching to make one of these photo album purses so I made one for her. She can put in pictures of her honey and her and there is room to journal her thoughts. Congratulations Kara!

Family Reunion

This past weekend we traveled to PA for the annual reunion of my father's mother's family. It is held at Shawnee State Park near Bedford which is a lovely park in the mountains with a big, picturesque lake. The weather is usually beautiful- warm in the sun, breezy in the shade- and this year was no exception. Cousins Andrew and Rachel were not able to come this year, but the turnout was good and Will and Noodle had a blast.

Will's great-grandmother taught him 'This little piggy went to market...'. What fun! He loved it so much, he went around the table and insisted that everyone take a turn telling him about his piggies.

There were no flying chicken races this year, but my dad brought the Cornhole game we gave him for Christmas. Noodle loves Cornhole! It's especially great when he picks up the beanbag and drops it in the hole for you. Could he be a more Ohio dog?

Tribute to the Stay At Home Dad

Dear Rick,

When people ask me what my husband does, I am proud to tell them that you are a stay-at-home dad. I hope you are as proud as I am. It is so wonderful that you and Will are such good buddies. He loves running errands with dad, helping dad in the yard, taking dad to Gymboree. What a luxury it is to know that Will spends his week days safe and secure, with someone who loves him as much as I do.

You have had many roles in your life: Firstborn Son, Beloved Grandson, Wild Teenager, Hot Shot Sailor, Submariner, Runner and Bicycle Racer, Dashing Naval Officer, Harley Rider, Devoted Husband, Retiree, Casual Golfer, Innkeeper, Armchair Politician, and now Doting Father. I hope you find this phase of your life as fulfilling and rewarding as any other.

We love you,

Megann, Will, Noodle and Captain Hook

Is crafting genetic?

This is the Father's Day card Will made at Kid's Klub. If you flip up the tie it reads 'Happy Father's Day! Love, Noodle'. Apparently the girl who was supervising the craft with the kids kept asking Will what his name was and he kept telling her, "Noodle". Noodle is our chocolate lab.

This is the Father's Day card I made. The similarities are eerie, no?
