Will Turned 7!

End of 2012/Beginning of 2013 Catch Up

How can it be that Will is 7 years old?
We, together with Grandma, Grandpa and Uncle Ed, celebrated the impossibility with cake and presents on Christmas Eve.  Then we spent an hour or so exploring the future with Will's new Magic 8 Ball (remember those?).  I'm happy to report that, according to the Magic 8 Ball, good thing are in store for us all in the coming year.

Happy Birthday, Darling William!  We love you!

The Last 5K in the World

End of 2012/Beginning of 2013 Catch Up

My friend Juli-Anne told me earlier in the year that she had never run longer than a mile and she would really like to run a 5K.  We ran together this summer with the goal of running in the Night Moves Fun Run in September.  Unfortunately, that Fun Run was the same weekend as an anesthesia meeting I planned to go to.
Then I saw an advertisement for The End Of The World Fun Run.  If the Mayan calendar was correct and the world ended on December 20, 2012 this was going to be the last 5K in the world.  So of course we had to do it.

And we did.
This is us at the Finish Line with the official mascot of the End of the World.

The Tree

End of 2012/Beginning of 2013 Catch Up

We headed back to Timbuk Tree Farm for the traditional hunt for the perfect tree.  Will felt very strongly that a Blue Spruce would be just the thing.  So we trooped out into the field and found a lovely tree:
great shape, beautiful color, dreamy fragrance,
but dang those needles are sharp.
So touching the tree was a little unpleasant, but other than that, it was perfect.

Back at the lodge, Will had a lengthy discussion with Santa and Mrs. Claus about his Christmas list.
This year he wanted a Smart Board like the one in his classroom at school (if you don't know what that is, ask a teacher and then ask yourself why on earth a child would want one for Christmas), a tractor driven ice cream maker like the one at Dr. Weaver's house (again, a difficult thing for Santa to deliver), or a sewing machine.
Luckily Mrs. Claus strongly encouraged the sewing machine idea.

Soren didn't make any of the pictures this trip because he was having a 'No Pictures Please' kind of day.
Oh well.

We brought our prickly but perfect tree home, set it up and put the Christmas Train around it.
Love love love this time of year.

Get Rowdy!

End of 2012/Beginning of 2013 Catch Up

Will played basketball on the St. Mary Little Lambs Future Rams Team

and got to hang out with the mascot Ruckus

I used to think that watching little kids play soccer was my favorite thing, now I'm pretty sure it's watching little kids play basketball. Hilarious!

Trick or Treat!

End of 2012/Beginning of 2013 Catch Up:

The dads and kids spent about 20 minutes trick or treating on a cold, wet Halloween Night.  The moms stayed inside for a head start on the traditional chili and good cheer at the Robinson House.

Jack O'lanterns

End of 2012/Beginning of 2013 Catch Up:

We carved pumpkins!

Pumpkin Patch

End of 2012/Beginning of 2013 Catch Up:

We made a trip to the cold, wet pumpkin patch with Will's friend, Jake.

 It was still really fun!

Oh my! Has it been that long?

There is no other choice but to bang this out.
So here goes:
End of 2012/Beginning of 2013 Catch-up

Halloween festivities started with a Halloween party at the golf club.  It was rainy and wet so the party stayed inside, but
William the Ring Master and
Soren the Circus Elephant
didn't seem to mind, especially since there was no shortage of candy!
